Provide overnight public safety coverage for the USI campus, student housing, and other university property. The officer patrols facilities and grounds, responds to calls and alarms, documents incidents, assists the campus community, and supports emergency responders. What you will do

Patrol campus buildings, housing, roads, and grounds on foot, bicycle, or in a vehicle.

Respond to safety, security, medical, fire, traffic, and building alarm calls.

Investigate incidents, collect statements, preserve evidence, and prepare factual reports.

Enforce university rules and traffic regulations while providing courteous public assistance.

Support emergency personnel, campus events, crowd control, and weather notifications.

Maintain required training and certifications and assist with dispatch when assigned.

What you will bring

High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge of security or enforcement methods and sound judgment in stressful situations.

Strong observation, de-escalation, verbal communication, and report-writing skills.

Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Ability to obtain and maintain required CPR, first aid, emergency response, NIMS, FEMA, hazmat, and crisis-intervention credentials within the employer's required timeline.

One year of security, law enforcement, first responder, or military experience is preferred.

Schedule

Third shift is 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. with rotating days off. Overtime, special assignments, and training travel may be required. The position is designated as essential.
